Day by day

Three fixed slots anchor the week: Park Güell at 10:30 and Casa Batlló at 20:00 on Monday, Sagrada Família at 15:15 on Tuesday. The beach takes Sunday, Montjuïc keeps Thursday with a beach option attached, the Gothic Quarter fills Saturday, and Wednesday is open with Montserrat as the suggestion. Each day's "close by" list is only the side items the notes say pair with that major.

Barcelona's main urban beach and waterfront. Since we enjoy beaches, this should be treated as a major part of the trip rather than something to squeeze into an hour. Good for swimming, relaxing, getting food and drinks, and walking along the waterfront.

Park Güell

A large Gaudí-designed park on a hill, famous for its colorful mosaics, unusual structures, gardens, and views over Barcelona. The main monumental area requires a timed ticket.

  • Gràcia · a more local-feeling neighborhood with pedestrian streets, plazas, restaurants, and bars. Convenient to combine with Park Güell, and on the way down toward Passeig de Gràcia. free
  • Bunkers del Carmel · former military anti-aircraft positions on a hill with excellent panoramic views of Barcelona. Convenient to combine with Park Güell if you want another viewpoint. free
  • Casa Batlló Magical Nights · the 20:00 reservation. One of Gaudí's most distinctive buildings, with a surreal exterior and equally unusual interior; the experience combines a visit to the house with a rooftop concert and typically includes a drink. booked
  • Passeig de Gràcia · one of Barcelona's main boulevards, lined with shops, restaurants, and impressive buildings. You arrive on it for Casa Batlló, so an early dinner nearby fits. free
